Type 2 fuel containers incorporate a metal liner accompanied by a composite reinforcement exclusively on the straight side, utilizing a hoop over wrap. Available in the market are variations featuring steel or aluminum liners combined with glass, aramid, or carbon fiber reinforcement. Engineered with a liner of substantial thickness and strength capable of containing the service pressure independently, Type 2 cylinders strike a balance between the cost-effectiveness of Type 1 and the lightweight characteristics of Type 3 and 4 cylinders.

  • Construction: Type 2 cylinders have a metal liner filled with carbon monoxide and wrapped in several layers of composite material. Composite materials provide additional strength and help reduce the weight of the roller.
  • Pressure rating: CNG Type 2 cylinders are designed to meet specific pressure levels, which can vary depending on the manufacturer and application. Pressure rating is an important factor to consider when selecting a cylinder for a particular application.
  • Capacity: Similar to Type 1 cylinders, the capacity of CNG Type 2 cylinders ranges from a few liters to hundreds of liters. The ability to determine how much compressed natural gas a cylinder can store.
  • Applications: CNG Type 2 cylinders are widely used in a variety of applications such as natural gas vehicles (NGVs), industrial processes and domestic/commercial use. They provide a safe and efficient way to store and transport compressed natural gas.
