Type 3 cylinders find application across diverse sectors prioritizing weight reduction, notably in transit buses, and delivery trucks. Additionally, these cylinders have been integrated into original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vehicles like Volvo and Volkswagen CNG cars. Key manufacturers of Type 3 containers encompass Luxfer, Dynetek, and Structural Composites, Inc.
  •   Materials:

– Type 3 cylinders are generally made of composite materials. This material is a combination of a metal inner lining (usually aluminum) and an outer fabric (usually made of carbon fiber or a combination of carbon fiber and glass fiber).

  •   Weight Savings:

One of the advantages of Type 3 cylinders is that they are lighter than Type 1 and Type 2 cylinders. Improving lighting helps improve the overall fuel efficiency of CNG vehicles.

  •  Usage:

These cylinders are mostly used in vehicles where the weight of the oil tank is important. They are suitable for both light and heavy vehicles.

  • Capacity:

CNG Type 3 cylinders are available in a variety of capacities measured in terms of gas volume, usually liters or cubic metres. Capacity will vary depending on vehicle size and application.

  • Refueling:

CNG vehicles equipped with Type 3 cylinders can be refueled at CNG stations using special refueling. The refueling process is similar to the normal refueling process, but the nozzle needs to be connected to the vehicle’s CNG tank.
